When books are easier to see, story time becomes more engaging, interactive, and inclusive for both children and caregivers.
Kids don’t just follow along… they respond, participate, and come alive with the story.
Originally designed for children with low vision, these books have proven to support a much wider range of readers—helping kids engage more deeply and actively participate in the story.
Krystle A. Boateng created Inside Ability Books after struggling to find books she could comfortably read to her own children.
What started as a personal solution has grown into a way for families everywhere to experience story time in a more accessible, engaging, and strain-free way.
Inside Ability Books® is the FIRST children's book company of its kind! We create children’s books designed to make reading more accessible, engaging, and inclusive for all.
Using the EasySee™ Reading Format—featuring large print and high-contrast design—these books help reduce strain and make story time easier to see, follow, and enjoy.
But more than accessibility, these books are designed for connection.
Kids don’t just read… they interact, respond, and come alive with the story.
Meet the Founder
Krystle A. Boateng is the Founder of Inside Ability Books and the author behind the brand.
After becoming legally blind at the age of 19, Krystle turned to creative writing as a source of hope and strength. What began as a personal outlet grew into a deeper purpose—helping others navigate life with confidence, resilience, and access.
She went on to build a career in the nonprofit sector as a disability advocate, empowerment coach, and ADA compliance specialist, supporting individuals in accessing the accommodations they need.
Why These Books Exist
Years later, as a mother of two young children, Krystle faced a new challenge—finding books she could comfortably read during story time.
When she couldn’t find options that worked for her, she created her own.
She designed what is now known as the EasySee™ Reading Format—featuring jumbo large print and high-contrast text, including white-on-black options—to make reading more accessible and engaging.
What started as a solution for her family has grown into something that supports many others.
Our Mission
Inside Ability Books is more than a collection of stories—it’s a commitment to making reading accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for every family.
Originally created to meet the needs of children with low vision, these books have grown to support a much wider range of readers—helping children engage more deeply, follow along with confidence, and actively participate in story time.
Whether for caregivers who need larger print, early readers building confidence, or families looking for a more interactive experience, these books help remove barriers and create connection.
Because every child deserves to see the story—and every caregiver deserves to experience it with them.

Special Thanks
On May 12th 2022, Inside Ability Books launched with a 45-day kickstarter.com book pre-sale campaign to fund our launch and 1st book release.
We reached our funding goal over a week ahead of schedule on June 15th!
THANKS to all who supported and shared this accessible print storybook initiative the first ever printing of the books arrived promptly on June 26th and pre-sale copies went out shortly thereafter.
To all those who backed the campaign:
With warm and sincere gratitude I THANK YOU for supporting the Inside Ability Books launch. You can feel confident knowing you have contributed to a great organization with high hopes of accommodating countless low vision caregivers and early readers to participate more comfortably in story time bonding/learning. Your purchase and or donation funded sttartup costs which include the upfront cost of book design and manufacturing of bulk inventory. As well as, press and advertisements targeted at this niche (but growing) audience. This inclusive product will give those most underserved by the children's storybook market options and will provide awareness in households who do not experience these challenges. The more that diverse human experiences are shared openly the more inclusive society becomes as a whole.
Best wishes and more power to your purpose! Krystle

USA Resources for the Blind Directory
NEW TO VISION LOSS??
There are a myriad of high-tech and low-tech accommodations that provide readers with low vision access to printed material. Large print with high contrast is only one medium. If you or a loved one has recently experienced significant changes in your vision, please contact a physician right away. Additionally, each state in the USA has Vocational Rehabilitation agencies for the Blind and Visually Impaired. These agencies provide resources for vision loss support and adaptive skills and technology training. Feel free to check out our State Resource Directory to find an agency near you!
